High Speed Internet AccessGetting ConnectedInstallation & Equipment

MRIC’s mission is to supply low-cost, high-speed Internet access using wireless, always-on technology, called 802.11, to the areas west of Boulder, Colarado. The advantages of the 802.11 service over satellite (both one-way and two-way), ISDN, and DSL are speed, flexibility, and cost.

FLEXIBILITY
802.11 is a wireless technology so it is not tied to a cable or wire allowing for greater mobility and flexibility in a service area. This is a huge advantage in a mountain community.

COST
As for cost, MRIC’s flat service rate of $50 means that you are not charged extra for more than one computer and you don’t need an additional phone line. In most cases the cost for equipment to connect to MRIC is much less than other services.

For $50 a month* you get:

  • Always on, 802.11 Internet connection
  • Up to 5 email address per household and 100M of email storage.
  • E-mail access via Webmail (we also support POP/IMAP)
  • Unlimited number of home computers (*note that commercial business with more than 5 employees need to negotiate a flat monthly fee. MRIC wants to encourage home-based businesses but has to balance storage and bandwidth).
  • Quarterly billing and discounts for annual renewal
  • Option to pay online.

*Does not cover membership, installation or equipment costs.

After successful installation, new subscribers need to submit a completed member agreement with $200 ($50 for co–op membership, $150 for first three months of service; make the check out to Magnolia Road Internet Cooperative) to:
