COVERAGE AREA:
MRIC supplies high-speed Internet access to the mountain area just west of Boulder, Colorado. 802.11 technology requires that you have line of sight (LoS) to a Point of Presence (POP). If you are in the line of sight of a repeater or POP you would conceivably be able to get service. Map of current POPs.
REQUESTING SERVICE:
If you would like to find out if your home is within Line of Sight to one of our POPs you can submit our online sign up form. Follow the directions on the form and our Membership Coordinator will contact you once we have established that you are within our coverage area. Please feel free to contact our membership coordinator if you have any questions.
EXPANSION:
Expansion is a possibility but there are concerns ranging from reliability, economics, and humanpower. To justify a $2500 - $3500 POP it takes at least a dozen new subscribers or a minumum half dozen plus a construction contribution. There also have to be enough volunteers in the area to provide support to the tower 24x7. If sufficient volunteers come out to provide POP locations, financial support, and technical support then expansion would be possible.
